The International Environmental Leadership Course is a two-week residential workshop for environmental leaders from around the world, offered at the client site in the US or overseas. Originally offered through the Smithsonian Institution in the US, it attracts participants from both the developing and developed nations, from all continents, and from all kinds of organizations including government, industry, academia, and NGOs.

Participants have included environmental leaders from Shell Oil Co., the Worldwide Fund for Animals, The Nature Conservancy, the National Park Service of Brazil, the Ghana Forest Service, the University of Barbados, and many other organizations and nations from Latin America, Asia, Europe and Africa.

The course focuses on installing environmental leadership skills in four essential categories: Self Skills, Relational Skills, Strategic Skills, and Systemic Skills. Participants learn by doing, with a wide variety of interactive exercises and projects appropriate to their goals.

Participants have called it “life-transforming” – “the best two weeks I have ever spent” – “we are better able to save the sea turtle because of negotiating strategies I learned in this course” – “everyone on my staff should take this course.”

Please visit the Contact ETCI page to discuss bringing this outstanding experience to your country or organization.
